This man is not a household name, but is known well in the pro music industry and in the professional martial arts community. He has accomplished more in one lifetime than most. Daryl Hayott was born in Brazil and raised in Harlem,New York. He went from being a homeless teen to professional teen session musician on drums (and some bass) at Electric Lady Studios,to Warner Bros. where he toured the world with different major artists.
Daryl Hayott, also known as Sensei Hayott, was a three-time East Coast Martial Arts Champion and did two tours in the Marines. He damaged his hand during a martial arts tournament and was told to play bass guitar to rehabilitate the muscles in his hand. Though he played the bass a little,he embraced practice on the instrument and not only restored the dexterity and flexibility in his hand and fingers, but excelled to the point where he went back to Warner Bros. to play bass with several more artists including Al Jareau,Sade and Teddy Riley and Guy.
A prodigy,Daryl never had any formal training on the musical instruments he plays and he currently plays a minimum of nine. He is music, rhythm and art. He believes that all gifts are on loan to us for this lifetime and renders himself to serve the gifts and something greater than himself. He is of the belief that all the music that flows through him is a prayer.
